The new competition is based on the formula as that used in the Championsleague of football and which all countries can participate, directly or through preliminaries. In the Eurocup and Euroleague Basketball, there are some big clubs from Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey and Israel, which regardless of their result will always be placed directly. This year therefore include the champion of Turkey and Israel missing or incorrectly fitted directly. Either they do not take part in the Euroleague or they must go through a wildcard.
The dominance of the big clubs has been a thorn in the eye of many clubs, but there was no alternative. This alternative is now BC and BC Oostende opt deliberately for this new story.
No doubt in the beginning will be difficult to match the sporty Eurocup competition, but it also provides an opportunity: our aim in the Eurocup was to reach the second round. In the new FIBA competition we raise the bar and we aspire to the quarter-finals of the Final Four.
